Real Natural Bioactive Adult Vitamin D3 is a pure natural vitamin D supplement with no artificial flavours, colours, preservatives, peanuts, gluten, or allergens. Vitamin D3 is an essential vitamin for the body as well as the precursors for calcium and phosphorus. After exposure to sunlight, vitamin D3 can also be synthesized by the body itself. Since the human body cannot fully sit in direct sunlight more than 4-6 hours per day, vitamin D3 helps our body meet the basic requirements for vitamin D consumption. Due to air pollution, it is nearly impossible for humans to receive adequate sunlight. Therefore, a current vitamin D deficiency phenomenon is plaguing people across the world.
Optimizing your vitamin D levels may help you prevent more than 16 different types of cancer including pancreatic, lung, ovarian, breast, prostate, and skin cancers. Vitamin D can make breast cancer cells fall apart, according to Dr. Cedric F. Garland at the University of California's San Diego Moores Cancer Center. He is the epidemiologist who has connected the dots between Vitamin D deficiency and cancer. According to Garland, in nearly all forms of breast cancer, vitamin D affects the structure of your epithelial cells. These cells are held together by a glue-like substance called E-cadherin, which provides structure to the cell. E-cadherin is made up of mostly vitamin D and calcium.
"Activated vitamin D is one of the most potent inhibitors of cancer cell growth," says Michael F. Holick, Ph.D., M.D., who heads the Vitamin D, Skin, and Bone Research Laboratory at Boston University School of Medicine. "It also stimulates your pancreas to make insulin, and it regulates your immune system." Vitamin D may promote cell differentiation while exhibiting anti-inflammatory and antiangiogenic effects. If you want to lower your blood pressure, vitamin D may be just what the doctor ordered. If you're trying to reduce your risk of diabetes or lower your chances of heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple sclerosis, then vitamin D should be at the front of the line in your daily supplement regimen.
Health Canada recommends that everyone receive a daily vitamin D supplement. Supplementation of the vitamin should begin at birth.
In Canada, there is precious little opportunity to seize vitamin D throughout most of the fall and winter. These dreary winters may not just bring you down due to the cold, but also due to a lack of proper vitamin D intake.
Research is taking place to determine what the adequate amount of vitamin D for different groups of Canadians. At the moment, Osteoporosis Canada recommends that for adults aged 19-50, the recommended dose is between 400IU and 1000IU per day. For adults over 50 years old or younger adults who could be at risk, the recommended dose is 800Iu to 2000IU per day. Health Canada recommends the safe limit for vitamin D intake is around 4000IU per day.
The School of Public Health at the University of Alberta in Edmonton have refuted these standard claims. Mainly, they believe that a claim from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), stating that the recommended intake of vitamin D is at 600IU, is far too low. They go on to say that we may need as much as 5000IU per day in Canada. Researchers from the University of California at San Diego and Creighton University in Omaha also stated that the standard intake for vitamin D is far too low. Health Canada has refuted these claims.
One study to keep an eye on comes from VITAL in the United States. They are doing a mass study of 25,875 men and women on whether taking 2000IU of vitamin D daily can help reduce the risk of developing cancer, heart disease, and stroke in healthy people. The first results are expected in late 2017.
